Timber frame garages
Timber frame garages and post and beam garages are all made to order and made to measure, to your specifications. We issue production plans according to your requirements. Then you confirm them before any part of the manufacturing process begins. Therefore you can choose which timber species you prefer and still get the traditional look - these kits can be made from a variety of timber types. The current choices available are:
- Untreated spruce
- Tanalised spruce
- Factory painted spruce
- Glulam (a composite engineered timber which is stress tested and very uniform for guaranteed stability)
It is even possible to mix and match different timbers. For instance you may want your garage to look like a traditional Post and Beam Garage with front facing larch or oak post and beams to form a feature for the building. But in fact use a more economic timber for the actual structure? Not a problem, we can do this. Anything is possible with the in-built flexibility of the our system.

As a flexible Design & Build System, we let you plan and build anything from spruce Framed Post and Beam Garages to pressure treated Post and Beam Car Ports to factory painted Room over Post and Beam Garage units. These cart lodges have living accommodation over the garaging part of the building (also known as carriage houses). We can combine the units to form any shape you require - ‘L’ shape, ‘U’ shape (by selecting any number of bays) or any other layout for a courtyard design. We can manufacture using various types of timber to form the basic structure. Whether in spruce or larch for any project. It is a very flexible system - be it a new build development, an extension, a refurbishment or an additional building, being a natural timber ensures it will blend in with any surrounding.

Update regarding our timber frame post and beam garages
Hortons Group is the lead supplier of Solidlox timber frame garages and buildings. Indeed, possibly the only supplier of Solidlox post and beam timber framed building kits in the UK. Our factory can make any size of Solidlox garages including the room over versions.
As previous customers know, Solidlox garages are the cheapest post and beam timber framed buildings but still high quality buildings.
Not only can we make these buildings to any shape or design. But we also offer various timber windows, personnel doors and garages doors that we can supply with the garages and other Solidlox post and beam buildings.
Hortons has installations teams as well, so we can erect in most parts of the UK.
Depending on the type of roofing you choose and your location. It may not be possible for us to undertake the tiling of the building (easy enough for a local roofer). But we do also install a range of roofing materials ourselves as well.
If you are reasonably local, then we can also lay concrete bases as well.
