6m X 14m Mobile Home Chassis
6m x 14m mobile home chassis options
Hortons can offer 3 different types of 6x14m chassis, which allows them to be sited on any site, even those with tricky conditions -
- Traditional wheeled chassis (fully prefabricated)
- Traditional wheeled chassis in kit form ("knock-down kit), these need to be assembled on site
- All terrain steel chassis with full timber infill and lifting points, these also need to be assembled on site
Cabins over 4m wide need to be manufactured in a way that they can be separated into 2 halves and therefore 2 chassis will be required as it will need to be a "Twin Unit".
The traditional wheeled chassis is generally the one that people think of but Hortons can offer other variations as well. The prefabricated chassis are great, they come fully built and ready to go. This is all well and good apart from when access is tight or if the ground is not good. They can also get bogged down and make a complete mess whilst trying to get them onto and then position them on the plot.
Delivery of the knock-down chassis is in bite-size parts which are then easily bolted together on site. This type of chassis still comes with a tow point and twin axles and so can then be moved on site thereafter if required and most importantly still fully comply with the Caravan Act. Obviously some parts are relatively heavy and long, but they are not wide, so access isn't a problem. If you need to cross over an extremely muddy field (for instance), you can just carry the parts across without worrying about the chassis or towing machinery getting stuck - these are truly all year round chassis, no need to worry about the weather and/or site conditions. You just need a solid, flat and level hard-standing and you're fine wherever that happens to be!
Generally, the above options above require a very level plot, which may involve a lot of extra unnecessary groundwork. We have a 3rd option - our "all terrain" 6 x14 metre chassis. It is named as such because it can be built onto our adjustable concrete block plinth system. Thus, there is no need to dig out the high side of the plot in order to have a totally level site - we build up piers (our plinth system) on the low side, leaving the ground "as is". The chassis in then constructed on top of these piers to form a level platform. This enables the timber building to be built onto this level platform. This 6m x 14m mobile home or park home chassis has lifting eyes such that a crane can lift it onto a flat bed lorry.meaning it is compliant with the caravan act.
